Your social media needs to have personality, YOUR personality!  Too often businesses begin a feed or page to just be “On” with the thought that they'll figure out content along the way. This approach is rarely successful.  Your social media should read almost like a lifestyle magazine with a set direction and vibe, not a collaboration of random content. If you’re guilty of being a random content poster, don’t panic.  Here are some tips to get your social personality in order.

Establish social brand rules: Be conscious when posting to maintain the look and feel of your brand.  Social media is an extension of who you are, so stay authentic while demonstrating expertise through desirable content. Color is a great place to begin.

We’re big fans of white as a base with the splash of a signature color thrown in. Color should always be a consideration when posting. This will help you keep a consistent look and feel. However your business is branded, with whatever colors and themes, build your content with those color palates in mind.

Next decide your tone: Do want your feed to be modern, traditional,  educational or inspirational. Maybe all of the above. One of my favorite examples of successful social media branding (And favorite practices all around) is done by Skin Pharm. On IG @Skin_pharm. Their posts are consistent in nature and engaging. You’ll also notice a recurring theme with color, content and branding.

Quality Content: Only post photos of the highest quality. Anything less reflects poorly on your brand. You’re also likely to lose followers by posting content that is irrelevant, unattractive and uninviting.

Talk directly to your client base without trying to "Sell":  Your feed is a direct line of communication and a chance for you to express who you are. Essentially "Why You".  Offer solutions while focusing content on things that matter or are of importance to your client base. Remember, everyone is looking for “Why” something matters to them

Project greatness. Celebrities project an image or persona others aspire to be like or connected to in some way.  Success makes them desirable. Human beings have a natural instinct to admire or want to be associated with someone of greatness. Post with confidence and show why you! Utilize the power of social media to connect the greatest parts of your services to the needs or wants of your audience.   A word of caution, find a delicate balance of establishing yourself as an expert without being arrogant or annoying.

Always keep in mind, your social media is an extension of who you are. Do it with personality, authenticity and vigor. Your followers will thank you ;)
